On Christmas Eve Fifty Years Ago…

On December 21, 1968, a Saturn 5 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida carrying a three-man crew. The goal of this manned mission was to orbit the moon and return the crew to earth. The successful mission also offered a special Christmas present to all the inhabitants of the earth—especially the people of the United States. It came in the form of a special Christmas Eve broadcast.

You can hear a recording of the broadcast here. It is just two minutes long.
