I completely get not wanting to vote for the lesser of two evils, that’s a reasonable take.…It’s Christians wanting to vote for the greater of two evils that is causing all the division.
—Nate Schlomann—
This election is not about who you like better or who you would rather invite for dinner. It is about who represents your values. Which candidate will enact policies that will put the country on the right path, and which candidate has been captured by the radical left.
—Rev. Bill Owens and Dr. Deborah Owens of the Coalition of African American Pastors, speaking on their own, as private citizens—
Key point: If you’re a Christian and considering voting for Joe Biden and other Democrats, I encourage you to reconsider and reject the idea. As a Christian, you already profess to have embraced biblical, pro-family principles that stand in opposition to the ideas the Democrats are promoting. Jesus demands the absolute allegiance of His followers; do not forsake Him at the voting booth!
Using satire, The Babylon Bee frequently hits home runs in assessing what is happening culturally in real space and time.
Two articles recently published by the Bee showcase the utter folly of the efforts of self-proclaimed Christians who seem to be looking for excuses to vote for Joe Biden and other Democrats during this election. Please understand that in citing these articles I wish only to emphasize the seriousness of each issue; not at all to make light of either matter. Moreover, it is not my intention to malign or to disparage anyone, but to exhort and to challenge. These are critical matters.
The first article is titled “Pro-Life Evangelical Group Endorses Moloch.” (Sometimes spelled Molech.) Moloch, you may remember, was a pagan god to whom the people of ancient pagan lands sacrificed their infants by burning them. Directing its pointed underlying message at the group Pro-Life Evangelicals for Biden (a group about which we expressed concern in a previous article), the Bee stated,
U.S.—A newly formed Christian political group is promising to fight back against Donald Trump in the upcoming November election. Known as Pro-Life Evangelicals for Moloch, the new group promises to return American Evangelicalism to a more socially accepted standing, just as Jesus would.…
According to the group, the bloodthirsty ancient deity promises to bring a more “Biblically balanced” approach to governance that includes providing free healthcare and college to the babies who survive the yearly child sacrifice event during the winter solstice.
Here are two passages from Scripture that give us a window into God’s perspective on Moloch:
-
-
- “[Y]ou shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name. And if the people of the land should in any way hide their eyes from the man, when he gives some of his descendants to Molech, and they do not kill him, then I will set My face against that man and against his family; and I will cut him off from his people, and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit harlotry with Molech” (Lev. 20:2-5).
- “‘For this city has been to Me a provocation of My anger and My fury from the day that they built it, even to this day; so I will remove it from before My face because of all the evil of the children of Israel and the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke Me to anger—they, their kings, their princes, their priests, their prophets, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And they have turned to Me the back, and not the face; though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction. But they set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to defile it. And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin’” (Jer. 32:31-35).
-
The second article hit hard against Biden’s recent response to a question a mother raised at the former vice-president’s October 15th town hall. Mieke Haeck, a mother of two girls, asked Biden about children who wish to transition to become members of the opposite sex; one such individual is her eight-year-old daughter. Biden said, “There should be zero discrimination. … There is no reason to suggest that there should be any right denied your daughter … that your other daughter has a right to be and do.”
Perhaps because we’ve heard LGBT rhetoric constantly now for years, we may be desensitized to how dangerous Biden’s suggestion really is. The Babylon Bee is helping its readers realize the extent and seriousness of the danger with an article titled, “Biden: ‘Parents Should Be Supportive Of An 8-Year-Old’s Choice To Stick A Fork In An Electrical Outlet.'”
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Joe Biden has taken a bold stance for defending the autonomy of one of the nation’s most vulnerable groups: 8-year-olds. Biden suggests that kids always know what’s best for themselves and should be able to make choices concerning their own health without judgment.
“Look, Jack, everyone’s always trying to tell 8-year-olds what they can and can’t do,” Biden explained on ABC’s town hall. “If your child wants to stick a fork or any other metal object into an electrical outlet, then there should be zero discrimination.”
I thank God for The Babylon Bee! It has presented scenarios that show just how perilous — and how dangerous and how foolish — Joe Biden’s positions really are.
What Are Christians Christians Who are Considering Voting for Biden Thinking?
In this article I want to encourage Christians who are leaning toward voting for Biden and/or other Democrats (or those tempted to contemplate doing so) to reconsider and to thoroughly reject the idea. My main point here isn’t to get you to vote for Trump, although I believe that that case legitimately can be made. I believe any sincere Christian should be horrified by Biden’s and the Democrats’ positions because of how anti-biblical and anti-Christian they are.
A pastor friend of mine, Ronnie W. Rogers, recently framed the 2020 election this way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This election surrounds non-negotiables:
-
-
- Biblical heterosexual marriage,
- Biblical normality of heterosexuality,
- Biblical creation of only male and female,
- Sacredness of human life, which abortion and infanticide destroy,
- Pro-religious freedom,
- Pro-private property (8th and 10th Commandments, Exodus 20:15,17).
-
None of these find a home in the Democratic platform or in the positions of Joe Biden.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All of the positions Pastor Rogers listed are biblical. They stand contrary to what Joe Biden and other Democrats believe, and to what the Democrats would do in terms of policy were they to attain power. The first four relate directly to so-called abortion and LGBT “rights,” issues addressed by The Babylon Bee articles and the Word Foundations posts we cited above. We considered the fifth item in an article titled “If the Democrats Win, Say Goodbye to Faith-Based Hospitals.”
Regarding the sixth item, note that Biden’s tax plan “Would ‘Increase Taxes on Average for All Income Groups,'” and that “Biden deserves to be pressed more on his commitment to lockdowns.” Of course, taking reasonable steps to protect people from infectious diseases, principally COVID-19, is a concern. Still, keep in mind that lockdowns basically give government control of people’s businesses and property. The truth is that control of private property by the government is a form of theft.
God’s Inerrant Word
On what basis does Pastor Rogers say the positions he cites are “non-negotiable”? He makes this claim on the basis of God’s infallible Word, the Bible!
This is no small matter. Every believer must take God’s Word seriously, believe what it says, and embrace its teachings. Note carefully these passages from Psalm 119, which speak of loving God’s law. Also, realize that Jesus was quite serious when He said,
-
-
- “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matt.5:17-19).
- “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it” (Mark 8:34-35).
- “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth” (John 17:17) when He prayed to the Father on the night before he was crucified.
- “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:18-20, emphases added).

What About the Poor?
Unfortunately, Satan frequently finds new and nearly hypnotically enticing ways to lure God’s people away from upholding the truth of His Word, including His commands. It appears to be trendy right now to broaden the term “pro-life” to such an extent (1) the term no longer means protecting preborn babies from abortion or (2) the importance of working to end abortion is overshadowed by “compassionate” government programs that supposedly will meet the needs of the poor or otherwise disadvantaged who already have emerged from the womb, some of them decades ago.
Do not misunderstand. Meeting these needs is very important. Even so, alleviating the needs of the poor isn’t government’s job; it’s the job of God’s people! (See pages 24-27 of this publication).
Please, express your concern for the poor by getting involved in helping them! Give to charities that specialize in this critical work! Do not wait or ask for the government to coercively take away money belonging to you and others to help those needing assistance. There’s nothing compassionate about that! Government is not compassionate. It is bureaucracy Moreover, the government is woefully inept at genuinely helping the poor.
Returning to my main point, I emphasize again that if Christians can’t see that protecting innocent, preborn children from abortion has to be paramount, their priorities are very messed up. Life is a linchpin issue, and so is God’s design for marriage and the family.
Life is a linchpin issue, and so is God’s design for marriage and the family.
The Bible also tells us,

- “[B]rethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live” (Rom. 8:12-13).
- “[P]resent your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Rom. 12:1-2).
- “[D]o you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Cor. 6:19-20).

The Question of the Hour
So, here’s my question for believers who are considering voting for Democrats: To whom do you belong? If you really belong to Christ, you will place His commands above your feelings and proclivities. You will seek to honor Him in all your actions.
Christian, to whom do you belong?
No one is saved by keeping God’s moral law; we’re saved by faith in Christ alone. Even so, we as Christians are to love and revere God’s law. We are to strive, with God’s help, to uphold and obey it (see Eph. 2:8-10). We are not afforded the option of ignoring His holy commands, especially commands like those affirming life and God’s design for sexuality. This is true no matter what bandwagons may pass before us, no matter what popular movements we are encouraged to join.
Why? Because God’s laws are non-negotiable. It’s as simple as that.

Have you ever wonder why a plague has come upon us when we Christians supported a cheating, lying, married three times, doesn’t need to ask God’s forgiveness (Trump’s own words) and hold him up as a pseudo-messiah?
You may want to check out the numerous messages from Christians asking folks like yourself, Toi Whom Do YOU Belong?
Thanks for reaching out. A vote for Trump is not a vote to approve of everything he has done in his private life. Biden’s policies would bring disaster on America; Trump’s policies, by and large, have not; they are, generally speaking, consistent with American ideals. Thanks again
