Where Is the Outrage from Democrats?

An excerpt from “If the Democrats Win, Say Goodbye to Faith-Based Hospitals,” a Word Foundations article published September 21, 2020. The complete article is available here.

In the House of Representatives, where the Democrats are already the majority party, Florida Republican Greg Steube proposed a resolution that called “for justice for George Floyd” and condemned police brutality. Significantly, it also condemned “violence, riots, and looting in the United States.”

Here is the “Resolved” section of the resolution in its entirety.

Representative Greg Steube (R-Florida)

Resolved, That the House of Representatives—
(1) calls for justice for George Floyd;
(2) calls for justice for officers and others who have suffered from violence at the hands of extremists;
(3) strongly condemns the violence, riots, and looting in the United States;
(4) recognizes that violent opportunists use the cover of legitimate protests by their fellow citizens to sow chaos;
(5) recognizes that the actions of those committed to violence does not diminish the rights of other Americans to peacefully protest;
(6) urges peace and order to be restored;
(7) expresses that those responsible for these violent acts be held criminally responsible for their actions;
(8) strongly opposes any effort to establish au- tonomous areas within the sovereign territory of the United States; and
(9) strongly opposes efforts to defund, dismantle, or disband police forces.

The House of Representatives voted on Representative Steube’s resolution on June 25. In a moment, I’ll share with what we learned from the vote. Fast forward twelve weeks. On Wednesday, September 16, 2020, Ben Shapiro posted a video of a brief speech given by Congressman Chip Roy (R-Texas). Here is what Congressman Roy had to say.

The next day on the House floor, Speaker Pelosi did in fact condemn the violence. Here is a portion of what she said.

One can hardly blame Senator Ted Cruz for being skeptical of Pelosi’s motives. Senator Cruz took to Facebook and posted a portion of Pelosi’s remarks. He also wrote,

Wow. Dem polling must be really bad.

Who could have predicted that voters wouldn’t like angry Marxist terrorists rioting & burning their businesses down? While Dems cheer for ANTIFA….

Cruz wasn’t’ the only one who took note of Pelosi’s speech. On Friday, September 18, conservative activist Gary Bauer of the Campaign for Working families noted in an email to his supporters that even though the House Speaker condemned the violence, she didn’t mention Antifa specifically. Even more significantly, he could “sense panic in her voice” because of what must be “internal polls…showing that the public perceives the left as being soft on crime and tolerant of looting and rioting.” Bauer encouraged his readers to remember that

the rioting started over 100 days ago.  During that time, Pelosi referred to federal law enforcement officers as “stormtroopers.”  Her party from top to bottom has not only embraced the “defund the police” movement, it has engaged in demonizing rhetoric that leads to ambushes and assassination attempts against law enforcement.

If the Democrats really were serious about calling violence what it really is instead of “peaceful protests,” and if they really were serious about condemning the looting and the violence against property, citizens, and law enforcement officers, then why did not one Democrat vote to support the Steube resolution?

Not one Democrat voted to support the Steube resolution. Not one!

The answer is obvious. Please remember this disturbing reality and everything else we’ve discussed in this post as election day nears. Vote as if liberty depended on it.

It does!
