Are parents who wish to hold schools and school boards accountable domestic terrorists?

Attorney General Merrick Garland apparently thinks so. He’s abusing his authority and needs to witness a massive pushback! Moreover, Joe Biden needs to witness one as well.

Battles are heating up. In an article in the Washington Times dated Saturday, October 2, conservative Christian statesman Dr. Everett Piper noted that “National School Boards Association declares conservative parents to be domestic terrorists.” He reports that the NSBA sent a letter to President Joe Biden in which it claims educators are under “immediate threat” because parents are angry over “propaganda purporting the false inclusion of critical race theory within classroom instruction and curricula.”

The letter continued, “[T]he classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism… As such, NSBA requests a joint expedited review by the U.S. Departments of Justice, Education, and Homeland Security, along with the… FBI. [Moreover] NSBA requests that [you] examine appropriate enforceable actions against these crimes… under… the PATRIOT Act in regards to domestic terrorism, the Hate Crimes Prevention Act, [and all other] applicable federal laws….”

Only two days later days later, on Monday, October 4, Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a memo basically doing exactly what the NSBA told him to do. Garland directed “the Federal Bureau of Investigation, working with each United States Attorney, to convene meetings with federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial leaders in each federal judicial district within 30 days of the issuance of this memorandum. These meetings will facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff, and will open dedicated lines of communication for threat reporting, assessment, and response.”

A CNS News article calls out Garland for abusing and overstepping his authority: “The Garland memo looks like an effort to use the FBI to threaten and silence parents who are outspoken opponents of critical race theory in schools. That alone would be a stunning partisan abuse of power. What Garland has done, however, is even more disgraceful.”

You can read the complete article here, and you should. Indeed, if you care about kids, you must. Parents who understand that school boards are supposed to be public servants are not domestic terrorists. One has a right to wonder, however, if perhaps those who are accusing parents of being domestic terrorists might could find some if they looked in the mirror!
