The recent Supreme Court decision redefining marriage doesn’t mark the first time the Court has issued in an illegal and illegitimate ruling. In 1857, it ruled that blacks could never become citizens of the United States. The case is called Dred Scott, and it offers an important lesson for us concerning Obergefell v. Hodges.
