Salvation Costs Nothing of Us, but Demands Everything from Us

In Luke 9:23-24, Jesus said, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.” In verse 62 He said, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

Salvation is free to all for the asking, but it demands everything from those who receive it. Imagine a government’s distributing food to those in need. The food is free, but once a person takes it, he or she becomes the property of the state. In 1 Corinthians 6:20, Paul wrote, “You were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Christian, you belong to God!
