A Theology of Marriage

Travis McNeely

Travis McNeely is the student and college minister at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. On June 23, 2019, Travis preached this sermon on Ephesians 5:22-23 to the congregation of his church. The sermon is available below, but you also can download it from the church’s website. It’s an excellent study of importance of marriage as an institution uniting one man with one woman for life. Marriage is sacred, Travis explains, because God designed it and because of of all it represents spiritually and theologically.

While it’s wonderful to help people with their individual marriages, the church also needs to emphasize what marriage is, what it does, and what it represents. Travis has done this, and in so doing he’s given every pastor and Bible teacher an important example to follow. I encourage all Christian leaders with whatever platforms they have to find appropriate ways to do the kind of thing Travis has done with his sermon. In a day when so many are confused and uninformed about the true meaning and nature of marriage, helping people understand these things is critical.

Thank you, Travis McNeely!
