INSIGHTS AND COMMENTARY FROM A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

[Jesus said,] “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock” (Matt. 7:24-25).

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Ps. 119:105).

Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth (Jesus, praying to His Father in John 17:17).

Unfortunately, we live in a day in which most people are confused about truth and reality. That which cannot be changed is seen as malleable, and that which actually can be altered and changed is believed to be fixed. Trying to change the truth—especially as it relates to issues like sexuality, human life, and marriage—can only bring disastrous results. Moreover, the messages people get from the culture do not help them sort through the “weeds”; they actually confuse them further.

Against this backdrop, sad to say, many Christians are squeamish, or at least less than forthright, about what they believe. The situation reminds me of the following humorous exchange from the Jack Benny radio program airing October 18, 1953. The clip features Benny, voice talent Mel Blanc, and actress Veola Vonn.

I believe that God is the source of truth, and that He has revealed the truth

      • in nature;
      • in His Word, the Bible; and
      • in Jesus, His only Son.

God’s revelation helps people their way in and otherwise dark world. In John 8:32 Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

I have a passion to explore biblical truth and to show that it is relevant in our day, both personally and corporately. In March of 2015 I became an Ambassador for Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) specifically to write an article each week and to post it on the ADF Ambassador Facebook page. Alliance Defending Freedom is a coalition of lawyers who work together to defend religious liberty cases pro bono. The ADF Ambassador program is a volunteer program, giving ADF allies opportunities to support the organization’s work in creative ways.

While ADF Ambassadors is a closed group, I post the same article each week on my own blog, www.wordfoundations.com. I’ve also been able to write and release several Bible study series. You can find those at www.discoverbedrocktruth.org.

Concisely put, my goal is to shine the light of biblical truth on the hot-button issues of our day, and to challenge readers to live according to biblical truth lovingly but without apology in their spheres of influence.

I am not employed by Alliance Defending Freedom but am grateful to be associated with it in this capacity. Unless otherwise indicated, all the articles at www.wordfoundations.com are my creative property, and I own all the rights.

Thank you for your interest in and support of Word Foundations!
