Andy Ogles, who serves as the County Mayor for Maury County in Tennessee, is a potential candidate for governor in Tennessee in 2022. Mr. Ogles is frustrated with the lack of conservative leadership from Tennessee’s current governor, Bill Lee. In response to Governor Lee’s release of Executive Order 83 relating to the state’s response to Covid-19, Mr. Ogles issued a proclamation of his own in his role as county mayor of Maury County. It was posted on Facebook on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
The proclamation’s Resolved statement declares,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Andy Ogles, County Mayor of Maury County, Tennessee, in context of Governor Lee’s violations against freedom, liberty and individual rights do hereby formally request as a duly elective representative of the people that the Tennessee General Assembly immediately convene a Special Session for the following purposes:
-
-
-
-
- Limit the powers of Governor of Tennessee and his abuse of Emergency Powers using unconstitutional executive orders which infringe on the liberties of the citizens of this state.
- Protect the children of Tennessee from forced mask-wearing and respect the individual choices of parents to manage the health and wellbeing of their own children.
- Protect ALL people of Tennessee from forced vaccination for COVID-19 whether by government or business both as consumers and employees.
