Years ago, Dr. Mark Corts, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina challenged the high school seniors in his church to adopt biblical priorities. One priority he upheld was choosing the difficult over the easy. In Numbers 13, when Moses sent 12 spies into Canaan to scout out the land, Joshua and Caleb were among them.

When the spies returned, all agreed the land was rich in resources and highly desirable, but ten of the company were afraid and recommended against moving out to take the land. Only Joshua and Caleb said God would grant victory.
Is it easy to be in the minority? No, but when you are right, taking a stand against the majority is worth the cost. Every day, we have opportunities to choose between the easy and the difficult. Let’s be willing to choose that which is difficult, for Christ’s sake.
