- In the parable of the sower, Jesus spoke of “the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit; some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred” (Mark 4:20).
- The theme of reproduction also is prominent in Christ’s Great Commission. The term translated “make disciples” in Matthew 28:19, as well as Jesus’ instruction in verse 20 to teach converts “to observe all things that I have commanded you,” demonstrate that God isn’t concerned only about the number of converts, but their maturity as well.
- Paul wrote to Timothy, his “son in the faith,” “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim. 2:2).
- In 1 Corinthians 5:5-6, Paul wrote to the believers in Corinth, “Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the lord gave to each one. I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”
